    OT RIA .38 Holster Question

I note in Meadows book he indicates that early RIA .38 holsters were made of "fair leather" and later ones made of russet leather. What is "fair leather" and what does it look like compared to black and russet leather? THANKS

I think the word "fair" probably means un-dyed, which is a very light, almost white shade of tan. I've seen military shoulder holsters like this and they turn darker when oiled and with use.
