    reply from springfield sporters re exports

    To SS a few weeks back;
    Hello Gents,
    Your new notice on the web site about no more international sales is causing real consternation over at the enfield forums where a lot of international members spend time. Can you give us any insight? Is this a federal/export permit/etc problem, or simply a change in SS policy? It would help members decide how to get parts in the future to know what has brought this about.

    Reply -'Until further notice we will not be shipping any international orders, Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
    It is a federal problem.
    We cannot ship to even a US address if we know it is going international. '

    Frak!
    Surely in this day and age its possible to write federal regulations precisely enough that terrorists can be obstructed, and hobbyists left alone?
    Brian? Your reply back a few said you'd been in discussions with the gents responsible, are they in any way aware of, or care about, the waves they cause to small businesses and legitimate folks?

    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. It's government RJW. They get their paychecks care of we taxpayers irregardless of the regs imposed on us. Does that answer your question? SS obviously doesn't care about all the orders they lose that are under $100 and won't bite the bullet and register for export with ODTC as it's an expensive and time consuming process.
