How many millions of 15 rd magazines were made?
It almost has to be 60-75m ?

Roughly 6 million carbines made. The magazine, like most others, was considered 'expendable'. Empty mags dropped in battle probably were not recovered, but that's guesswork. Still, I imagine the target quantity was probably more like 100 per carbine, or 600 million - maybe a billion. There are guys here who are knowledgeable in contracts for some items - maybe they have an educated guess. Then of course you have the thirty-rounders that were in use until the carbine was finally taken out of service. They had to have bought at least a few million of those too.

I don't know how true my info. might be, but I've been told by several collecters that the contract that each maker made with the War Department was 20 mags per. weapon. 12,200,000 plus. I wish there were more. Bob.
