So all of a sudden this scope will show up on an "all matching" rifle...

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Here's one that conveniently has NO scope S/N on its "S51" marked buttstock. Quick way to have a "matching" rifle... Oy!

There are plenty of those in this serial number range, presumably using up the old Mk1 and 2 4x screw segment covers.

Hey, y'all? If I'm being stupid or something let me know, will you, please?

I really never saw the INTRODUCTORY pic in the auction of the scope AND BRACKET w/ S/N right there on the side!

    Dang...

Looks like he sold it off site - all bids cancelled and item ended.

Too good a deal! Plenty of P/O'd bidders though! That or it gets thrown back out at a much higher price...

I didn't know a bidder on eBay could just change his mind, once an auction had started and bids had been placed ...

You can end an item - you can't in the last 12 hours, or when winning bids are in - but if you cancel all the bids, then you can do so - and not have to pay ebay a cut as well. There are lots of good reasons for not doing so, however, scammers, increased likelihood of fraud and so on are more likely if you sell to someone trying to induce you to away from the normal auction format.

I believe you can amend your item to "item is lost or broken" at any time, which then closes down the auction.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

As a seller you can end a auction any time, as a bidder you can cancel a bid up to twelve hours before it ends.
