L39 owners weekend reading............

The No.4 7.62 CONV was built as a commercial target rifle for civilian sales and was the predecessor to the Envoy which was also a commercial sales variant.

But most (all?) of the Envoys were built in 1969 - before this type of 7.62mm CONV.

(LERA has Envoy E1; I have a feeling the date is actually 1968 on the first 20 or so).

No4Mk1T & Mk1*T. Longbranch manufactured 1000, and Holland & Holland converted 23,000 rifles.

No5 Mk1 Fazakerly and BSA combined manufacture 250,000+

No6 Mk1 Lithgow manufactured 100 rifles

No6 Mk1/1 Lithgow manufactured 100 rifles

No7Mk1 BSA manufactured 2500 rifles

Cno7Mk1 Longbranch manufactured 20,000 rifles

No8 Fazakerly manufactured 15000 and BSA manufactured 2000 rifles

No9 Parker Hale manufactured 3000 rifles.

L39A1 RSAF Enfield manufactured 1500 rifles

The last Military Enfield L42A1 RSAF Enfield manufactured 1000.

The last Enfield – Enforcer manufactured by Enfield & Parker Hale. 767 rifles.

Then there is the L59 but that wasnt a 'live' rifle.

Where does this one fit into the sequence of Envoy's, L39's and 7.62 CONV? - I have always wondered given the low Axx number (looks like there was a 9/49 date there originaly):

Predecessor was probably the wrong word as the small amount of production of all these rifles seems to be at or near the same time. I should have said it was the no frills L39 clone civilian variant where as the Envoy was the tricked out civilian variant with all of the bells and whistles.

My Envoy was built in 1970 and is serial number E50 Palma Match.

An XL-39 sold on GB a few months ago. Went for a tad over 1,800 USD.
Tide was out that week for me.....

That one made it into my safe and its a beaut!!!

It also has the "00" Bolt head. I am way behind on picture taking and posting.

Good for you. Glad you were able to land that one. It was a nice looking rifle, and I though long and hard about bidding on it. Had to pass. Wonder how many XL's are in the US? Can't be many. Where did I read they made 50 of the XL's? Is that right?

Some of these where used in the trials conversion of 7.62 nato so the numbers are even smaller

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I so need an L39 and/or an Envoy.
