Current Canadian Comando knives?

I am looking for some information on what is currently being issued to Canada's elite fighter's. Should any of you fine fellows have anything you'd like to share, I would be most grateful-Many Thanks-SDH

I think I may be able to help.

Here is a knife that was a semi official private purchase from SwampRat by
2CER field Squadron ,Combat Engineers.


If you click the link and then again when you get there I have a page where Darrin(the original and current owner) explains the knife.
So far this is the best quality knife I have yet to be aware of as an actual Canadian military knife.

I will try to do some more later but I have to go open presents

Very nice and many thanks. I've ask several time's for current issue stuff and have had some response, but, a little limited. I just got bac a few weeks ago from Norfolk Navel base and was able to get a current issue Seal knife, I'll be posting it soon. Thank you very much for sharing that with us-SDH

Here we have the most common CF issued fixed blade ,the Grohman boat knife.
It is one of the most practical fixed blade military knives ever issued and the least threatening looking. It is also nice and light.

That's interesting Unsub, makes me wonder however what the JTF 2 guys and the new special forces unit uses. The Boat knife has been around for a long time in the forces, probably since the 1970's or maybe even the 1960's. I would like to get one of the flat grind carbon steel ones, I see they are being advertised on the Grohman website. Best regards Tony.

I heard that the carbon steel Ghromans are made for trappers who want a softer easier to sharpen knife and most people are much better off with the stainless.
A friend of mine(a Yank actually) has a flat ground stainless version that is quite nice.

I have found that the occasional soldier nowadys who cares about a knife will buy his own good one and soldiers who don't care but need one buy a cheaper folder like a CRKT or use whatever they can scavenge like old M7 bayonets ETC. The US soldiers still seem to like the leather handled K-Bars. Sometimes I think if we left it up to the guys they would have .45 long colts as sidearms.

Thats interesting usub, looks like the russell knife I carry for field dressing when I'm hunting.

I would like to see all the serving soldiers get a first rate fighting/using knife.
Something made of decent steel with a single edged blade with good geometry and a symmetrical spear point. It would also need a good comfortable handle that is neither to big for the smaller and female soldiers and not to small for the big guys. The Bark River wet environment knife is a good example.
