I just watched a TV program called Battle Rats where they went through many of the caves on Iwo. The main person in the show was Harlan Glenn. It was very informative.

I viewed the program too, and it was very interesting. It was unfortunate they were on a fixed time restriction from authorities and had to rush so much.

One thing that really impressed me was they filmed the items they discovered underground, but they never disturbed anything and left everything as they found it. Most often when people discover these type of areas, they take everything with them to sell, etc, and historical locations are lost forever.

Too often these days, there are planes, ships, subs, etc, from WWI and WWII found under water or buried in the ground with human remains still inside and everything is taken from the location to be sold.
