If you are thinking fake, it sure looks like one to me.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

That's what I thought. He should have turned the screw a little more for the pic.
Would an Inland 1/44 mount be a barrel?

I emailed the seller and got this reply. The band has two weld scars.

Thanks for contacting me. I've included several photos at the end of
    this message.

I've had this barrel since 1996 or 1997. It was packed in cosmolineicon
and wrapped in wax impregnated muslin when I acquired it. I gauged
the muzzle and it measures between 0 and 1 at the lands and 1 at the
grooves. This barrel looks new to me. The parkerized finish looks
original but it's always possible that it could have been
re-parkerized. I just don't know how to tell beyond looking for
scratches beneath the finish. This barrel doesn't have that, plus the
    markings are all sharp.

Here's a description of the barrel...

    • Manufacture / Barrel Date inscription reads in three lines:
    INLAND MFG. DIV. / GENERAL MOTORS / 1 - 44

    • There are no import marks on this barrel.

    • The front sight bears the letter N so it's Inland too.

    • There are three "P" Firing Proofs:

Two are on the barrel, are small and of equal size with the leg of
the "P" pointed toward the receiver. The first is just over
    six-inches from the muzzle.

The second is just over eleven-inches from the muzzle.

The third proof is much larger with the leg of the "P" oriented
toward the muzzle, and is located just ahead of the barrel threads on
    the barrel hump.

    • There is a Ordnance Bomb escutcheon located on the right flat of
the barrel hump adjacent to the large "P" proof mark mentioned
    previously.

    • This barrel has a "short skirt" at the chamber.

    • The gas piston is in place and is marked A.I.

    • There are the typical letter and character markings on the flat
section of the barrel between the gas piston and the barrel threads.

    • The color of the finish is typical dark grey.

    • The Type I barrel band is unmarked and has a wide swivel
    aperture which is also unmarked.

    All the best,

    Harry
