When Santa Fe Arms converted No. 4's to No. 5's, did they scrub the serial number and add their own?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Golden State Arms always stamped their rifles with the company name. My Santa Fe has the original serial number it left Maltby with. I don't know what Gibbs did as far as numbers.

I have two Santa Fe Arms rifles, one is pure sporter, scrubbed(No4 Faz), one is a No5 clone and not scrubbed(M47C). Both have the marking as shown in lucky dogs photo.

Santa Fe left the original serial number intact. They did not re-number their conversions.
