    Need help identifying trapdoor carbine...

Hello, I just picked this up at an estate sale and have tried all morning, I hope the pictures make it to the forum. As best as i can tell it is close to a 1866 Allin 2nd conversion carbine, but I am running into conflicting info.
Gun is in poor shape but mechanism still functions. says 1864 on lockplate, no serial numbers, says 1866 on bolt mechanism and also has a stamp below the 1866. Found a small "D" located under the barrel part of hinge.

Rifle looks unaltered, and all parts and pieces seem to match. Stock is solid, some small cracks. Missing swivel in front of trigger guard and has one added screw holding on the hammer, all other hardware looks original. Barrel is 22 inches from muzzle to breech block, overall gun is about 41 inches at longest points. Ideas of value for its "poor" condition yet it is a carbine perhaps.

Any help appreciated and I am prepared to answer any questions. thanks in advance!

I hope you got a good deal on it. There were no Model 1866 carbines made.

I did! 75 bucks, and what a piece of history. I have since found out it is a 2nd allin conversion that was later commercially converted into a carbine, perhaps for easterners going west for buffalo hunts. I am happy I bought it, I dont think i have another gun with as rich of a history.

    TD carbine

That was a great deal. The lock alone was worth twice that. The rest of the metal worth at least $100. If you get bored with it, contact me.

Thanks, I am actually having dreams of shooting it which are just dreams, although the action and parts seem to work well. It appears to have been taken out of service with a round, or some part of a round, in the chamber which has decomposed to some sort of rust ball in the chamber, which i have mostly picked out of the chamber, but the barrel is still solidly blocked, and I cant yet tell if its a lead bullet. Any ideas on clearing the barrel without doind damage would be appreciated.
