New to forum Here's my M1

I am new to the forum but I have been lurking for a few weeks and am very impressed with the knowedge represented here. I recently posted some information about my M1icon. The replies were helpful but asked for pictures. I didn't have my camera but now here they are. The carbine is apparently a Standard since the serial number is 2155xxx. The barrel is an underwood stamped 12-43 with a flaming bomb. The magazine release is marked with an M or W with a WA beside it. I would appreciate any informatin that you can give me about this M1. I have had this for about 40 years and it has a very clean bore. It has been fired very few times since I have had it. Thanks for any help.

Stock Markings: AAP means it was rebuilt at the Augusta Arsenal. The P behind the trigger guard is the reproof mark after the rebuild.

davgil, welcome to the forum. Nice carbine, you will get a lot of information about carbines here. More pics of your carbine would help. Hang on to the Lake City ammo and find something new to take to the range. Your T.H. is a Standard type III with the upgraded safety and mag catch probably added at Augusta Arsenal rebuild. The P would be the initial of the person who inspected the rebuild. If it needed to be reproofed the P (proof mark) would be between the grip and T.H. Hope this helps......Frank

Save the Lake City! Walmart sells Remington FMJ for about $26/50 and online you can find Sllier and Bellot for about $21-22/50. Both shoot well. Personally I don't like Aguilla, as it is slower, underpowered, and can cause function problems, especially if you have a strong recoil spring. You can measure the recoil spring, and it should measure 10 1/4 inches. If much less than 10 inches, it is loosing power and compressing.

Thanks guys. I'll keep the Lake City. .30 cal is pretty easy to come by. I have had this M1icon for a long time but simply haen't pulled it out to shoot in years. I just ran across this forum and it got me interested in it again. I look forward to continuing to learn from the experts here and getting this out for shooting.

I suggest wearing a seat belt and make sure that your airbags are working!
