A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Most likely it would be deemed a "replica" and therefore a prohibited weapon.

I took a look at the ebay listing and it should be able to come into the country. It should be treated the same as a DEWAT (Deactivated War Trophy)..Now, that said, it depends very much on Canadaicon Post and the wacky funsters at Canada Customs.. All I can say is "go for it"

    DEWATs aren't importable either.

Depends on how they've been dewatted. There was a thread a while back on CGN where an immigrant from the UKicon brought some deacts when he moved. It all got through except the mag for his M1icon carbine.

Its a plastic model kit, perhaps calling it what it really is a "toy" would work ??

After all really thats all it is a copy of a gun made of plastic which makes me think of it as a toy. Like a model car is also a toy.

If customs inspects this on importation they will confiscate it as it is clearly a replica of a real firearm and therefore a prohibited item. I know it's sucky and stupid, but it's the law nonetheless.

Just to illustrate the stupidity, you can go to Wal-Mart and buy a plastic full scale airsoft replica of an M-4 carbine for $80. These are partially made of clear plastic. I'm sure a few seconds with a can of black spray paint would make it visually almost identical to a real gun.

They LEGALLY import airsoft guns made of plastic and metal which do not have ANY clear plastic just fine as they are being treated as BB guns and paintball guns last I heard.
