    Kynoch 303 MkVII Ammunition

Kynoch (in the UKicon) is in production of an exact duplicate of MkVII ammunition (but using modern components) and they are calling it "303 MKVII 174gr F.M.J".
Its consistent but shoots about 1" high and 1" to the left compared to the Prvi.

    Taken from the label :

    Powder Charge : 39.3 grns
    Case : S&B
    Bullet 174gr R.O.
    Primer : Boxer
Loaded by Kynoch Rotary Auto Loader
    Velocity 2489 ft/sec (at 100 meteres 2406)
    Energy : Muzzle 2400 ft lb (100 meters 2238)

    Email: Kynamco@aol.com

I have not tried reloading any Kynoch (Kynamco) yet but being S&B cases I doubt they will have much of a 'life'.

    Note :
    a) Midway has been appointed as a Kynamco (Kynoch) distributor
    b) Kynamco (Kynoch) also load the 303 with the original 215gr bullet
    Muzzle Velocity : 2050 ft/sec
    Muzzle Energy : 2007 ft/ bs
    100yds Velocity : 1853 ft/sec
    100 yds Energy : 1641 Ft/lbs

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Have you sectioned a bullet to see if it is of proper MkVII construction?

Ammo is nice, but having a supply of ballistically identical MkVII bullets would be great! (Especially for those long range shots.) I've several US rifles that the sight calibations are pretty spot on at all distances, but it seems harder to achieve w/ common .303 "new mfg" ammo.

Several people at the HBSA shoot last week commented that Prvi Partisan matches the sights at least up to 500 yards.

If this Kynoch ammo uses S&B cases, I'd been included to check that they are NOT using the S&B (mild steel jacket) bullet.

BTW those Kynoch people are not the original Kynochs, they just have permission to use the name and their previous caibres have NOT been cheap.

Do Kynoch use proper Mark VII bullets with a flat base?

    Kynamco .303

    Hi

When I was chatting with David Little, the MD, last November, he said that they had originally purchased 250,000 x 174gn Radway Green bullets and were then down to their last 5,000 or so. They would have been flat based bullets and certainly a couple boxes of cartridges I bought from them have shot well in my SMLEs.

I have no idea how many rounds they have left now. They were also loading some .303 rounds with Sierra MatchKings.

    Kind regards

    Mike

Flat base is OK, and Sierra 180sp's also do OK to 500yds. However, past that point they stat to fall off rather more quickly.

I'm wondering whether the bullets have the bit of filler in the front to lengthen the projectile to the standard MkVII length.
