    unidentified cleaning rod

Here's acleaning rod I can't identify. It's a loose one that I acquired a long time ago, but I've since forgotten why I needed it or why I got it. It seems to be a standard Mosin rod, except for the ring around it, about 4 inches down from the head. The threads are Russianicon. It's marked with a small star and what appears to be the letter"R", which normally means it's a Finn rod, but it's very indistinct so could be something else.
Dimensions are 25.19 inches long, .192 diameter, .277 head diameter.
    Any ideas?

    Red face Of Course!

Of course it's for an SVT40- I shoulda known that. What happened was that I pulled the flash hider assembly, which is also the cleaning rod latch, to avoid any possible problems with some over-zealous Kalifornia DOJ type (the flash hider could be construed as being one of the features that makes it an assault rifle), and forgot about it. Ah, the joys of old age.
Anyway,my thanks for the input, guys.

i live in the People's Republik of Kalifornia and i own an SVT 40. it's completely legal since it's not a flash suppressor on the muzzle. it's a muzzle break. it really does nothing to suppress muzzle flash.

I know that and you know that but I don't need the potential hassle. It's probably being a tad paranoid, but there's just too much to lose if somebody did decide to investigate my collection-it's a big one! So all my semi-autos are "legalized" to comply with the most liberal interpretation of the rules we have to live with. My M1A1icon carbine, for instance, is kept in two separate pieces, the action assembly and the stock assembly are not joined. Dumb, but what're you gonna do!
