    L4A1, L4A2, L4A3 magazines

    Can anyone explain the differences between the magazines so designated?

    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.     Fal type locking lug mags L4A1/A6

    X3E1 - Experimental

    L3A1 (C1/MG 95A) - Original pattern with the retaining lips for the bottom plate turned inward.

    L3A2 (C1/MG 99A) - Retaining lips for bottom plate turned outward and fitted with a bottom plate retainer.

    L3A3 (C1/MG 116A) - Modified L3A1 case to approximate L3A2.
