    Ammo Pouch

Can anyone recommend a US military ammo pouch that will fit 30 round Carbine magazines?
What I need is "functional" not interested in WWII correct and etc. Does the Viet Nam era two magazine belt pouch fit the M1icon Carbine 30 round magazine?
Thank You in advance for information and suggestions.

If you watch the auctions you can get a real 4 mag pouch for the same price as a repro. I paid $15. for one a couple of mo. ago. The 2 and 3 mag pouches I've seen are new manuf. General purpose pouches you will have to check size. I think the VN pouches you are referring to are M14icon or M16. I hope this helps.GK

Every now and then a stretched belt pouch that used to hold 2-15 and was modified for 2-30's pops up. They look to have been done when made. I have one, they weren't selling for very much.

The four mag belt pouches are kind of big.

The Army made a mechanic's bag that is just great for this type of work. It is slightly smaller than a musette and has a shoulder strap, detachable, which places it right at hand level when worn across the body. You can fit a couple of pistols, ammo magazines whatever and it snaps shut and you can just push it around and forget it. I use that one because it is big enough to have room for empty brass, magazines, boxes of ammo, a rag, can of oil, whatever. For the plinker or moving shooter who reloads, it is the bees knees.

The modified pouches were done overseas, I think Korea. They were done after the Korean War because I have seen some 1957 contracted pouches altered.

    My guess is the 1970's.

The pouch commonly referred to as an M14icon double pouches holds either 2 M14 mags, or 3 or 4 M16 20 rounders (Its been over 35 years, I can't remember), or 5 M1 Carbine 30s. I prefer the Korean war type 4 mag pouches. Had two, but just sold one with 4 AYP 30s. I also have one of the rigger modified double pouches.

Thank You to all who replied. I will go with the Viet Nam era (circa 1968) Nylon M14icon/M16 belt pouch with the ALICE clips. I have a source for new in the wrap. If it holds 5ea 30 round M1 Carbine mags, well so much the better!
    Sincerly,
