A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Federal law states an individual can ship a firearm to a manufacturer or repair facility and have it returned to them without having to have a license to do so. The trouble is getting FedX or UPS to accept it from an individual. For handguns, shipping through the USPS can be done by, and between, FFL license holders only.

Interesting problem because if I remember correctly a non FFL holder has to use commercial carriers such as UPS and Fed X. When I shipped a revolver back to Cimmeron to their repair facility in Texas, Fed-X was used in both directions. I was not given any problems by the clerk when I identified the contents as a revolver for repair.

I agree with the comment about using the flat rate box. Seems funny that the ATF is directing individuals to use a system that is reluctant in processing the items according to the letter of the law.

I wound up calling RIA and asking them to send a call tag. Afterall, it's their new weapon that's defective. They were very nice and said they would send one. That way, I don't have to worry about anything, it's in their hands.

Thanks for the info guys !!
