A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. As far as that document is concerned, most of the identification information is pretty good.

    As far as the history:

There never was a US Government contract for unmarked 30 round magazines. I am still researching and so far I cannot find any Korean War contracts. Also the J and J were delivered in 1966.

Also the history of 1970's and 1980's is way off. There were no government contracts. The magazines were purchased by South and Central American countries from large Surplus Dealers in SGN. Some mis-advertised them as "CIA production, unmarked". This mis-representation was a sales pitch toward US civilians and was not at all true. The magazines were sold to these countries, along with lots of after-market, low quality parts. I was involved with a few South American brokers and other than a couple of times, I could not supply the quantities of each item needed. That is why the reproduction stuff was produced and sold.

Back on topic, I didn't hear much about the last Alabama show. Saw a few pictures, one or two comments, that's all.

Has there been any word about something happening at the Dallas show? If so, what?

    Trying to plan my summer.

    Jim,
I haven't heard any more about the 'possible' Dallas show. We've worked 16hr days for the last 8 weeks, just missing Easter day. Until this weekend.......the boys pulled a wildcat on me. Throwing their tools down Friday evening telling me they'd see me Monday.
They (and I ) need the break, tempers getting pretty short.
We have our Spring Home Shows coming up.
If I hear anything I'll let you know.

    Regards,
    Charlie

    Jim,
Was it you that owns a Ruger Black hawk?
I posted in the watering hole if anyone might have a take down guide I could copy for a old 3 screw single action Black Hawk. My Uncle dropped off his .357 for me to look over......like most of his arms it's been neglected.

    Charlie,

Yes, I have a three screw Black Hawk in .30 Carbine, also in 45 Colt. In the picture below with the Ruger is the AMT auto mag in .30 Carbine.

Ruger has on line manuals, here is a link to the .357 Ruger Black Hawk. It also shows serial numbers by years of production. I also think they will send you a manual if you request one.

    Hope it helps,

    Jim
