    wow....

I'm not into bayonets specifically, but you'd have to be one serious collector to spend that much....

Is it me, or does the bending proof "X" look far less distinct than the EFD proofs next to it? I'd want to see this one in person before laying out that kind of coin. Maybe ask about the inspection/return policy before buying - just my humble opinion.

Over the last couple of years, i have seen a few go for about $1200 plus on ebay. However given the current state of the economy, i think you may be correct...for the immediate future.

I have one and am debating whether to sell or keep.

    1907 Hooked Quillion

That's a really excessive price since they made over 500,000 and most were converted. I sold an Australianicon Hooked Quillion with matching scabbard for over $1,000 a few years ago and there were only about 5,000 manufactured.

If you watch the movie about the Australians fighting the Turks starring Mel Gibson you will see a number of hooked Quillions in the final scenes. I received a listing from Englandicon a few years ago listing the original hooked quillion 1907's for something like 50 pounds. I ordered 5 and they were sold out. Now there are Co's re-manufacturing 1907's with hooks for a reasonable price. So be careful when purchasing a 1907 HQ bayonet.

Actually, I read that the hooked quillions in Gallipolli (the Mel G flick you mentioned) were all repros welded up with quillions for the movie.

ive read that as well about the galipoli bayos , beware with these and know what you are buying ,
having said that 11/11 is a realistic date , and GR is correct for that date , the markings do deserve close inspection as this one is not well photographed for the value they have placed upon it , and the condition leaves much to be desired

mines in better condition and ive only ever thought to overvalue it at half that , i guess i need to rethink my plan

I've spken with the guy who was the armorerer for that film, he contacted me as I put forward a theory that my WSC S294 with hook (made in 1944) that came from Autralia may have been made for that film and he told me that it wasn't the case, strange how my suggestions has taken a life of its own and is now accepted an I see it repeated often. Sorry I ever put that out as a theory, both on my site and I believe in my CD. can update the former but the latter is cast in resin
