What is your WWII favorite rifle?

My son's No 4 MK 1, shooting off of a rest with the rear sight set at 550 yards we were 100% on the rams at the silhoutte range. Next is the SVT-40 Tokarev, because it is just plain fun. GRF

As a practical weapon (I still sometimes use one as a "truck" or JIC weapon)- Rifle, cal. .30, M1
Most interesting from a collector's standpoint and favorite all 'round bolt rifle - No.4Mk.1

Of those that I've seen and held which would be most, I'd say the German K98. Even fairly late in the war these were well constructed where most of the other nations with the exception of the US were really cutting corners.

The best rifle is probably the Garand simply because it was so far advanced over the bolt actions but I personally never cared for them much primarily because you can't hunt with them in PA.

Without question, the German G/K 43 rifle. I have hunted with one of these since about 1957. When I got my first one I hung up my K98k - which I still have.
I shoot, and own, all of the WW 2 rifles. My favorites among them is the M1 Garand and the SVT 40. My least favorite and thus almost never shot are the G33/40 & M44 carbines. Don't like the muzzle blast or the recoil!

Mine would be the Fusil de Infanterie Modèle 1907-1915 Modifié 1934 in 7,5x54mm. These are very under rated weapons and accurate.

My Long Branch No4MkI*(T) for "reaching out to touch" and a PPSh-41 machine-pistol for being a"man about town".

Another under rated but VERY USEFUL Submachinegun/Machinepistol is the French MAT 49.Both the PPSh and the MAT 49 have barrels that are over 10 inches long and are quite accurate and controllable out to 100m.The MAT however didn't come along until...1949 so it doesn't make the cut for WWII leaving the PPSh-41

The Russian theory of fire and movement has ALWAYS been to advance while laying down a regular "SCHITTSTORM" of FA fire to your front and flanks in order to obliterate all opposition.With the PPSh you can sure do that what with the VERY Reliable 71 rd drum and almost foolproof action.
