    Barrel installation

    Hi,
I have a couple of questions that several searches yeilded no satisfactory results.....

    I have a Springfield Armory Carbine receiver and what I believe to be a Herlo(sp?) barrel. I don't think it's chrome lined(dated 5-71 I believe).
First off, should I install this barrel, or get a USGI barrel?

I have all the tools, and will be getting a big bench vise.....how many turns will it take(approx) to get the barrel tightened down? I read abount indexing the barrel....how do I know if it in the correct position?
Im afraid of screwing up this receiver....are there any good sites to read up? TM helped, but not enough for me

ANY help will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!
    Chad

Get a PM to Chuckindenver and he can explain the Gunsmith's view on it. Or just send him the gun.

    Well...

It should only take one turn to tighten down.

I still wonder why there are no copies of TM9-1276 '53 edition online.
    Bandwidth or Copyright limitations?

    Just wondering.....
