    M1917 Safety installation

Hi All, Looking for some help in getting the safety installed. Once you set the spring and plunger in the opening and hold compressed with a very small screwdriver blade, the safety is suppose to be pushed into place. The end goes in fine, but there is no longer room for blade or a pin to keep the spring compressed for the safety to go into place. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, John

Use a smaller screw driver or jewlers set to push the plunger in. Then when the shaft of the safety lock is pushed in it has room to pass the plunger.

to remove the safety..remove the bolt.,rotate the safety down all the way,
with a good pair of needle nose locking plires, grab the end of the lock thats sticking into the bolt way.
    pull the saftey out.
to install, with a small screwdriver, or punch, push the spring loaded lock all the way foward, grab the lock again with the plires, install the new safety, remove the plires.
