    SKS Imports to the US

Seems like Canadaicon is awash in SKS buying opportunities. Will we ever see a good supply of SKS come into the US? I talked with AIM surplus and they said they've been looking for some for a while but can't find any at a reasonable price. Can't see why they are so available in Canada and scarce here.

There is no Federal ban. All regulations passed by the Clinton administration expired a few years ago and were not renewed. California maintains certain banned items and that could be a factor if the importers are located in California but not all are. Even there, you can sell them with certain modifications.

As best I can recall, the first President Bush signed an Executive Order that prohibited importation of non-sporting arms from China. This has never been repealed or terminated, and is the reason the Norinco SKS supply dried up.

I bought a Yugoicon SKS 59/66A1 from Big 5 Sporting Goods approx. 1 1/2 years ago. Pristine condition, numbers match. Shoots like a dream. The grenade launcher adaptor was removed, and a muzzle brake added, as per Calif. regulations. I paid $400.00 for it and have not regretted it ever. It's my 30 caliber go to rifle. No problems ever, available cheap ammo, great boom, boom, for the buck. Sherm

    $Classifieds Gonna be $PRICEY$

If any ever flood the market again there going to be so expensive no one is going to want to buy them. My first sks was bought last year for $275( a Yugie) and that was decent but since then I,ve gotten 2 Chinese and 1 Russianicon which averaged $350 a piece. I've seen only a few on the net (besides gunbroker ) and there around the same price. Im jealous of the people telling stories of getting theirs for $75 a several years ago....

Yes we do have literally "tons" of SKS's here in Canadaicon but the big thing is ammo is so very cheap and easy to find. I was in a store the other day and his ammo price was at least $60.00/1120 too high and his excuse was the ammo "someday" will not be so easy to find. I agree that eventually and who know's when it will become much more difficult to find surplus ammo at a good price however you can't justify expensive 7.62 X 39 ammo at this time. You in the USAicon wish you could get a SKS cheap, well we here in Canada wish we could get a AR 15 style gun that was not restricted or prohibited. Anything that looks like a AR such as a S&W 15/22 is restricted and must only be used at a range, makes no sense but then that discussion would take us into politics which is a no no. Right now you can get a very good Russianicon refurb SKS for slightly over $200.00 and I think alot more are going to be available soon if the "rumour mill" is correct. One strange thing is all of the SKS's here in Canada must have the mag. limited to 5 rounds? Go figure the beaurocrats have never heard of the term quick reload with a stipper clip??? All of you in the USA are so much better off when it comes to gun reg's than us in Canada.. oh yes I keep forgetting how the world " beats on you" for your gun culture...strange how in reality your violent crime rate per 100,000 is less than 1/2 of ours and 1/4 of that in the UKicon ( according to a stats report I was sent a couple of months ago) ? I guess it is true " a armed society is a polite society"
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

I bought a Yugoicon with the California modification earlier this year for $300. All matching numbers and nice looking near new stock so they are out there, just not as cheap as they used to be. It had the wrong bayonet on it, I guess California removes them and someone else added it after they got it. I got that taken care of. The California muzzle break looks better than the grenade launcher but it does take it out of "original".
