Alternative vintage scope to use with 03A4?

I've got a genuine 03A4 - 499xxxx - with a genuine M73B1 on it that I would like to shoot occasionally but I don't want to risk damaging the original scope. So, is there an alternative scope that will fit that I can use instead? I have some larger rings for a M84 that will fit this rifle but these scopes are pretty pricey as well. I'd love to get a scope in the 4x-6x range that doesn't look space-age. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. A Lyman Alaskan would work with your 7/8" Redfield Rings.
I have a Leupold VariX III 1-5x i originally bought to have something for my scopeless FN 49. It has a 1" tube but the objective lens is the tube diameter so from a distance it sort of resembles an Alaskan. Naturally any 1" Redfield or Leupold STD Rings will mount it to your Base.

    Regards.

    Jim,

Thanks - I didn't know there were 1" rings that fit the 03A4 mount - so I'm good. I appreciate the education.

On my '03 sporter I have a Weaver K3 in a set of 1" vertical split rings on a Redfield mount. Love the look of those vertical split rings.

What about a Weaver 440? Looks almost identical to a M73B1. Has 3/4 inch tube and doesn't it have a higher magnification? Popular choice for clones.

i use a Weaver 3x9 marksman, i see them on Fleabay for less then 75.00 now and then, they have a small bell, and it will clear the handguard.
