Krinko, Pics would be nice if you have time...not like they're falling out of trees. I've only seen two Ishapores, my '41 ands a '50 that weren't rearsenalled, but have heel and tow repairs, any butt repairs on yours?

I had no idea they were scarce in "unrebuilt" state, but now that you mention it, bradtx, I think I've only one as well. Will have to dig around and see!

Scads of barreled actions and parts from the region I used to have, but that pile is shrinking rapidly for some reason...

I have a newish RFI Mk.III* made in 1944. Non-FTR Ishy's are NOT common.

I've had a few non-refurbs over the years. Agreed, they aren't very common at all. One I had was a 1919 made gun - nifty find that was, I ought not to have sold it. It still had a nice bore as well.

To do the detail photo thing, I have to get my light situation worked out---my last photographic bulb went dark and the photos are coming out dark as well.
Sooner or later, though.

Looked at my '43 Ishapore, and, it too, has a newish bore. The safety spring is a Lithgow, though, mostly because there was a P-H target sight on it when I purchased it. Other than that, it appears to be as mfg'd. Not 100% sure about the bolt- it's S/N looks a little different than the rest- no obvious clue, just a suspicion. It shoots VERY well!

Maybe pics to throw in at some point, but it'll be a while. I have never understood the seeming 2nd class status of these rifles.

Generally (Historically?) it's a problem of prejudice and cosmetics. Not helping to endear them to collectors are some of the Ishapores released for sale were obviously pre FTR and worn to the bone also the late 80's workmanship on some of the .303 rifles wasn't exactly splendid.

Yes, poo is poo, but the few "nice" ones around don't seem to bring much either. I think I got the Indian rifle free when I purchased the P-H sight that went onto a Lithgow w/ a fresh new 1947 bbl. I guess I ought not complain- maybe there's a few more lurking about...

It just needs a Ishapore safety spring in good shape to be a really nice rifle.
the wood is of an odd but pleasing tight grained "not quite orange" yellow appearance, a bit lighter in colour than the scales on Krinko's bayonet above.

jmoore, The Lauan mahogany furniture can be very attractive with colors that span dark brown, through reddish brown to a more reddish hue.
