mag question about the Ljungman rifles

    Hi guys .
I would like to know if the mag on the AG42 Ljungman is interchangable with the modded AG42B ??
I am helping another collector who lives interstate on a remote property who doesnt have net access to finish rebuilding his Ljungman , I did hear / read that the Hakim mags would fit but the chap in question wants the real deal .

Any help from those more knowledge would be great ..

    cheers
    tucker219..

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Normally you wouldn't see a AG42 magazine as they were modified with an additional lock on the mag body which made them AG42b. The 'b' modifications included a few things aside from the magazine. In these technical orders the parts with the 'b' suffix are Ag42b.

These are technical orders showing the difference between Ag42 and Ag42b parts. Those parts with a b suffix are Ag42b parts.

Isn't really a good forum that I saw for the Ljungman.

That makes the Hakim mag. a closer match than the Ag42b magazine. I do know that the Egyptian mag will mostly work in a "b" model, but the additional catch at the front was definitely an improvement. (They have a tendency to come adrift...)

I've never seen an Ag42 (not "b"). Are photos a possibility?

I'm sure I've seen a photo of a Ag42 but I don't have one. To my way of thinking the B mods were an improvement so pre-B really doesn't interest me.

I'll be doing a section on my website on the Ag42b. Tonight I sorted through a bunch of Swedishicon technical orders, many with illustrations and many dealt with the B mods. Much larger illustrations than the above.

Yes, both the AG42 and AG42B use the same part number magazine. Hard to find. Check ePay. Numrich (e-gun parts) lists them, but out-of-stock. Hakim is interchangeable.
