    Beaumont

I'm looking at a rifle that looks a lot like a Beaumont, but has a "flattened" bolt that I've never seen on a Beaumont before? It is dated 1886.

    Anyone familiar with this rifle?

Looks like a Beaumont w/ the Vitalli mag addition, but the flat bolt handle is weird! I can't imagine why it would be that way.

BTW, the V- mainspring resides partly in the handle, at least that's what I remember. Had one for a while a few years back, but finally swapped it off.

That is certainly what it appears to be. I think a previous owner just ground the bolt handle flat because he found it too large and clumsy for his (small?) hand.

I have a virtual duplicate of that model... 'cept for yours looks better. The flat handle I think is another modification.... I haven't seen one before despite my looking for odd ball variations.
