    12-12 dated SA/ '03 Springfield barrel

This barrrel is isted on GB as an early 12-12 dated SA barrel.

I have a couple concerns about this item.

First: The rebated area where the front sight sits is something I would expect to see on a WWII vintage barrel but not an early 1912 era barrel. I have handled several early barrels and not seen this feature on any of them.

Second: The over all finish is not correct for a 1912 dated barrel though this could have been redone later in the barrel's life, if in fact it is a 1912 barrel.

What say you? Are my concerns founded or not?

How could someone misread the date (probably 12-42) for 12-12? Poor date stamp?

NOT a 1912 barrel. Muzzle is flat, not crowned. It is a 1942 barrel, OK? A common shooter barrel.
