    H and r model 12 sights

Picked up a model 12 H and R today without sights. What is a good sight source for these? Thanks in advance.

A set of Redfields front and rear. It came orginially with a Redfield Olympic front and a Redfield Palma rear. But a Palma, International, or Olympic rear all fit the base.
CMPicon still had all the sights for sale the last time I looked at their site.

I see they list 3 rear sights- international, olympic, and palma. Is one any better than the other? Has anybody got any of these and what shape were they in? thanks

The Palma was the top of the line followed by the International and then followed by the Olympic.
But all three sights are better than needed for normal shooting. I think the Palma was the only Redfield rear sight still in production when the H&R 12 was made.
Any og the three will serve you well for nrmal shooting.

I have bought all three types from the CMPicon and they are just fine. They showed some wear but hey some of them are close to 50 yrs old.

    Mounting Plate

Can anyone tell me if the mounting plate that adapts the sight to the rifle is the same one that a winchester 52 used or where I can find one that works on the H and R? Thanks

Ken Viani, @ Chose an image sells mounts for the H&R M12, the Winchester M 52 & the Martini Mk III.....

I bought on for my M12 & it fits like it was an original mount from the factory, Ken ships very quickly & is a very nice guy. He replies to emails quickly.

I used standard Weaver rings to mount a Modern scope on the Viani Mount. it is rock solid & looks really nice on the gun.....

I have two of these and Viani mounts for a couple of other .22s.

An additional benefit of the Viani mount is that it doubles as a sight base for the large format Redfield sights.

BTW, from the factory, the H&R M12 came with a Palma rear and an Olympic front. As stated, any of the three mentioned, plus a variety of other sights that use the same mounting system.
