Pics for you guys who havn't seen them. Not my Carbine, but I wish it was ! It belongs to a friend of mine, and at the moment, he won't sell it to me ! In wrong stock, beat up, early 42 bbl date, and someone has messed with the dovetail for a scope as you will see. I am hoping someone may comment on the colour of the parts on this one ??. Can't get my pics to line up in the right place, sorry !. Get well soon PBI. Mike. Attachment 14572Attachment 14573Attachment 14574Attachment 14575

Mikey,
That carbine makes me think of one word - historic. Again, you are pulling up carbines that we don't see here in the states. I realize that the carbines were imported into NZ, but your location seems to lend itself to some form of certificate of validity for the carbine. Each one you show makes me think of places like Iwo, Marshall Islands and Okinawa.
Side note: You also give me hope that there is a country to run to when there is nothing left of this one! Can I bring my guns and move in next door?

Cheers Mate,
Best I can see of the Remaining finish on the barrel, leftside of the receiver and near the serial number stamp..... All look to be the Dulite/Blued finish. Be it thin, but sure looks original.
Pictures with better lighting or background of the sides of the receiver may show the two tone finish we'd expect to see on this one.
The Hammer and trigger housing pins look to be of the Dulite/Blued finish also.
Can you see where the barrel band may have set during the Finish Application? Or is the finish just to worn away? Do you think the Front sight is original?
I sure enjoy seeing these early War Horses.
Did notice that the Recoil plate has what looks to be a loose fit to the receivers rear locking tang. Is the Recoil Plate a Type II ? Bolt color?
Would love to see or have you list the parts and markings you've found on it.
Thanks for sharing this one.
Do you think this one may have been a left over from the early training before the Island attacks?

Hope your Mother is doing well.

Thanks Tired and Charlie. I'll have a look through what pics I have for anything useful and get back. Hammer is H in a Shield, no doubt about that ! It was the first one I had ever seen. Mike.
