    Camillus MK 2

Back around 1963 when I was at Camp Blanding, Florida, I "picked up" a fighting knife in fairly good to excellent condition. I know very little about these knives and my camera is down for the count so I'll try to explain as best I can. The knife still has most of the bluing on the blade but is now more of a dark brown patina. The dark brown leather handle is in excellent condition with only two or three small dents. The "guard" is marked U.S.iconN. MARK 2 CAMILLUS NY. The scabbard looks like OD fiberglass with minor scratches and a belt attachment of webbing with a snap fastener. The front metal section of the scabbard is marked U.S.N. MK 2 and the rear is marked NORD - 8114, B.M. Co., the next mark appears to be a 1 over a 1, the final mark is a VP with five pointed stars under both letters. The knife and scabbard has that old musty surplus smell.

Question: is there any way to approximate when this might have be produced. Since I got it in 1963, seems a little early to have been during Vietnam. Maybe Korea or WWII era?

    Thanks Skip,
It's in such good shape that I would have not thought WWII. Any rough guess on the value?
