Rusty,
I apoligize if my comment on the other WRA in this thread cast any shadow over your new find.
Enjoy your carbine and Thanks for sharing it.
Let us know how it shoots and maybe try some outside pictures.
Just something about most indoor pictures, they just don't seem to do a carbine justice.
Especially one like that !
Regards,

You are right, that stock looks great.
Ok, big decision - you going to shoot it or just look at it?
Although I can't disagree with Rustship's decision to swap safeties in his own carbine, my minty 6.6 mil. Winchester has an E.I. marked flip safety as well as an AI marked type 3 barrel band. According to info I've obtained through my membership in the Carbine Club, I have no reason to believe that these Inland parts are not original to my Winnie and will remain as they are. BTW, all the other marked parts are WRA.

It's a good idea to keep things as they are anyway
The data base will prove things because of the small details. As BQ said a while back, something like (no quote) ....it is the odd part that shows up that determines more about originality.
My 5.6 Win is 100% Winchester but has an Underwood .U. recoil plate. It was extremely difficult to remove and wood etchings point to it being original in that stock. If I decided to change that, it would destroy evidence. There is a known Winchester in the data base near mine with the same recoil plate. This adds information to both carbines. I have no clue why people change these parts. To make them what? In doing so they remove what may have been original pieces, and pollute the data base.

I put the EW safety on MY gun because I like it. Takes about a minute and a half to put the JAO flip safety back. I dont think this is a drastic change, I like the looks of push safeties. To each his own!

No need to get ****ed about it
I wasn't even referring to you as you've already stated your reasons for doing it. I absolutely realize that it is your carbine and I absolutely could care less what you do with it. I was just stating an opinion about changing parts in general. You can put a scope on it for all I care. Light it on fire, change it to a pistol grip fiberglass stock, put Uncle Mike's sling swivels on it, whatever. It's YOUR carbine.

Step back two steps Dave, I am not ****ed, and there is no need for you to be. Simply stating my preference. Your adding the adjectives! Im quite Happy with my new addition. If you are happy with the wrong recoil pad on yours, more power to you.

Rust, by your own admission, you have committed sacriledge by profaining a holy object. You must be punished! You must pack up the carbine (with its original safety installed!!!!) and ship it directly to me!
Seriously, I understand the "coolness" of the push safety, but I also understand why they made th operational change to the flip design. I have accidently dropped the mag while feeling for the safety a couple of times at the range. Can you imagine the "Oh SH*T!!!!" feeling if you did that in a combat situation!!!
My comments were just aimed at making sure you didnt trade off an original part of your carbine. Looks like you have a way to have your cake and eat it too. But back to my standard question - How does it shoot???
