A must have for the "t" nuts'

ive just finished reading a long out of print book thats a must for all the t nuts out there, its called "with british snipers to the reich" isbn0-935856-02-1 published 1948 and re-printed in 1988. written by captain C.SHORE, any body else read it?. found it on e-bay and got it for a song.

Captain Shore may have been one of the most enthusiastic shooters in the sniper program in WWII!
The book will leave you wanting more.
He didn't get as much front time as McBride in WWI (A Rifleman Goes to War), but they had a kindred spirit, it seems.

Read it last year during a trip to Normandy - a great read, covers so much ground, a real "couldn't put it down". Haven't enjoyed a book that much for a very long time before or since.

And loved Capt. Shore's "directness" - so refreshing in these PC BS days!!

He was in the RAF Regiment, hence the title 'captain' instead of some other RAF title that rank equates to. They say the best Commissioned rank for many reasons too...... I looked up the old Army Lists to find out a bit more about him and met a blank until someone told me about the RAF ........ and I suddenly lost interest! But seriously, as I understand it, the RAF Regiment retained the Army rank structure until they changed.

I got a copy from a subscriber to this Forum and he'll be interested to know that it's well thumbed and read. I read out chapters and quotes to the Sniper Division. They're still relevant today as they were then.

it is a great read, gives a end users perspective of what worked and what didn't. definately has a love affair with the Lovat scouts, uite understandable but one would have thought he should have transfered to them. peter is right, he is a RAFFIE and thats just one up from sailor.
