Information on NPM
I'm hoping BQ can tell me this information. I'm filling out a data sheet on my NPM SG. I am wondering if the IBM Corp barrel is the original and I'm told that the way to tell for sure is proof marks unique to NPM. This carbine has a small P about 4" below the name IBM Corp with a small punch mark to the left of the P. There is also a punch mark on the receiver in front of the rear sight. The SN is 4259700 and is the fifth number block for NPM . The fifth interchangeability test was run using 423xxxx numbers all with IBM corp barrels this in March of 44. That would make this carbine built about late March or early April when they were using the large number of IBM barrels sent to them. When was it put together? And are those NPM proofs?
It also has a KR. marked hammer that looks like a type B V1 shown on pg 308 of War Baby it does not match however the front view for the Type B V1 shown on the drawing to the right. It has the left hand cut outs just like the dog legs. Is this a Type B V 1 hammer?
Thanks in advance for any help
Dave

DaveHH,
Here are some pictures posted by mpd1978 showing NPM punch marks on barrels used by NPM.
I was getting ready to look at a NPM a few days after that and had asked for examples to see if the barrel may have been original to the NPM receiver it was on. I got lucky as the Marlin barrel did have the P and NPM punch mark.
Hope this helps some....
Help needed for correct barrel for NPM

Thanks Charlie
The punch mark on mine is just to the left of the P and looks just like the examples. Thanks.
