    Smile Badger....

...thanks for your post. I have asked on other boards for them to give up this type of info , and everybody acts like it's a big secret . I now have a rough idea of the numbers involved. I have a number of sites I visit , and I don't like to " freeload" , but I've been unsure if a donation really helps or not. Knowing that if everyone donated a dollar a year the bills would be paid . I think this sort of thing will let more people feel that a ten or twenty dollar a year donation would do a lot to keep the lights on. I know now that a twenty dollar bill to the top four or five sites I like does help.
I think this should be somewhere that everybody would be directed to , along with a running update on donations vs. needs. I cannot believe anyone that uses a forum like this couldn't do a $10-20 a year if they spend any time here at all. I think I need to start setting some aside to do so.
    Thanks again , Chris

The army was going to GIVE you a carbine and the CMPicon stole it from the army and then tried to sell it. Quite a story what was the serial number?? what did the FBI have to say about the situation??

Brothers Having had a chance to think about this I realize that Doug is absolutely right. So I'm ending this by Apologizing to everyone with my solemn promise that this will never happen again. I have no right to impose my views about another site or company on others just because of my own feelings. This merely creates discord. When I think back, I could have done something but didn't. So now perhaps I shall do what others have done Keep my collection European. You know this entire matter has been more a matter of Principle than anything else. In my collection I have one American rifle The US M1917 Enfield. In as much as it is a mixmatch the chances of it's value going over say $600 are at best slim. I'll ask you for your opinions What if I were to put her up for trade for say the Sovieticon, or Romainian SKS, or the Frenchicon Mas 49 What do you think of this idea What European Rifles would you say she is a fair trade for?

Carbines may be gone, but rumor is that they have a ton of parts still unsorted. And they do have a LOT of Garands.

Folks that went to the GCAicon convention last October came home with some amazing stories. M14icon kits was just one of the previous rumors to become a reality. The CMPicon has a very savvy business model, and I believe they will have some interesting products in the future.

Those parts are all Garandicon parts, not Carbine. They bought them in bulk by the pound. At this time there is only one guy sorting the parts. It may take a while before they are listed for sale.

paulm, first it is OK to be upset as you feel you were "crapped on". Heck I have "beaked-off" more than once in my life and know I will probably do it again. Remember apparently the last "perfect" person was nailed to a cross.
Doug's expaination was great, most people do think that these sites run for pennies a day and they don't. I realized how much it costs when talking to a friend who is a computer engineer who told me things can get very costly. Literally there is "no free lunch" in this world.
About your 1917 Enfield, keep it and buy yourself a Russianicon SKS which should be the cheapest gun you can find. If you want something more accurate get a Russian 91/30 which if you get a good one will be a fantastic shooter. I shoot with a guy that reloads for his 91/30 and it really is a accurate gun when you get the right load.
IMHO your 1917 is a great gun and worth more, much more than any SKS type unless it was personally signed by Stalin, of course then that would start a thread on whether it was authentic that would boggle the mind.

We (my son and I) have more than one SKS and they are fun out to 300 yards and that is all.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
