    Time-Outs?

I'm sure this has been covered several times but I can't find a thread on it.
My question is about the "default" time out while logged in and perusing the different forums.
When I find a question I can answer I immediately go to my references and by the time I'm ready to hit the "post" button I seem to have timed-out. A few times I've been able to re-log in to the forum but other times it has been a copy/paste answer. Sometimes my answer just seems to go away and I just give up and go to bed.
    Any ideas?

    Phil

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Very odd ...

The default time-out for the site is 15 minutes of no activity, after which time the user is logged out of the site.

    I'd recommend the following ...

    1. Check your Internet browser and make sure it's set to accept "cookies" ...

    2. Clear your Internet browser's memory cache, make sure you are logged out of our site with the Log Out button and then close down the browser.

    3. Re-start your computer and open up your browser.

    4. Make sure your bookmark or the site you type to get to the forums is either:

    https://www.milsurps.com/index.php

    or

    https://www.milsurps.com

Using either of the links above, come to the site and fill in the information to login (see attached pic). Note: Make sure you check the "Remember Me?" box which sets a browser cookie on your local computer, so you don't have to login again every time you come to the site.

Run a test of some sort that you know in the past has caused you to be logged out, even though you're still logged in and doing something.

Let me know how that works ...

The only other thing I can think of is if you're typing a post and you're not doing it longer than 15 minutes, select the Preview Post now and then, to make sure the site knows you're still there. To be honest, I'm not sure if the vBulletin software recognizes typing activity while during creating a post as an activity, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

    Regards,
    Badger
