    Disturbing News from Downunder.

The "Powers that be" here, as a result of lobbying from the anti gun people, have decided that the number of Hi-Cap semi autos (assault rifles, or military style semi automatics) in the country, shall not increase. So, they have introduced a policy that requires you to hand one in "for destruction", if you want to import another one. If you don't "hand one in", you get no import authority. I've just found out that some guys are handing in Carbines, "for destruction", so they can import an AR15. It's actually worse than that, these guys, if they don't own an M1icon are actually prepared to buy one from someone else, to hand in for destruction, so they can get an AR15 import permit. It's very sad to see Carbines go this way. There's talk of a legal challenge to this requirment as it is not actually a ratified LAW. It is, in the view of collectors here, an example of a law enforcement agency (Police in this case), pushing their authority a little too far. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti Police, as I was a member for a long time, so can understand their opinion. Just hate to see Carbines being chopped up this way. Will up date. Mike.

I would be looking at Customs not the police. They do team up in a tag team manner to protect us from ourselves though.
As you were a member, you would know that Parliament will pass 'bills' and 'regulations' to avoid the full process of getting somethind proclaimed as an Act.
I hate to see any firearm taken by the government. I have watched 2 lots of my semi auto rifles and 1 lot of pistols be destroyed and society hasn't got any better.........

Mikey--wait till you can't replace them--that is the MG rule here now-MG's went from 1000 to roughly 10,000 each-some are cheaper but others are more-no new ones can be added-the transfer tax is $200 each time you change owners-some day I invision a tax on primers here, maybe even a transfer tax on regular guns-governments become parasites on their subjects-we are not allowed to discuss politics on this forum I think so am zipping my fingers

That is really bad news. New Zealandicon was actually my back-up country for retirement if America became "Amerika" in the future. With Austraila's guns gone, Britian beyond being in shambles, and Canadaicon's rules tightening, is there any place left? Is it still possible to buy an island in the Bahamas?

Wow! It is just like California on a smaller scale

The people in power RULE, they don't operate a real government. The issue is a very few people who have different hobbies and interests make judgments about what is good and what is evil. In their opinion, this is bad and that is good. If they happen to be idealists, you are screwed. The issue is these weasels are in power.
