Found this while roaming the Garand forum today. It will take 4 minutes of your time.
Listen closely to the news on the radio that the Grandpa is listening to before the kids get in the car. I think there's still a chance for our young ones.
I spent the better part of yesterday evening showing my 14 year old Nephew a large part of my WWII collection.
He was big eared with eyes to match. Very intent on learning all he could. I was impressed while he took photos on his phone and sent them to his buddies.
When he asked when he could come back..... I knew there's still a chance.
I look forward to taking him out to take a few shots.
Lets share our passion with the young ones. Someday, they'll be the new caretakers.
Cheers,

My condolences, Phil. My dad was a US Navy WWII and Korean War Veteran as well. He passed on Thanksgiving Day, 2004. May God Bless all who have served our nation so faithfully.

It gave me pause... I went into the front room and touched my Dad's ash urn and his funeral flag.
A young man (Lance Corporal Josh Ose USMC, age 19) that graduated class of 2009 from the high school I am substituting at was KIA in Afghanistan Two weeks ago. HIs funeral procession passed the school Monday, and the entire student body lined the streets with flags to welcome him home.

Thank You

My deepest sympathy Phil, been there, done that, and it shook me to the core, because I always felt my dad was invincible. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
