Best Way and Best Tools to Remove Front Sight Pin ???

I don't have a regular punch small enough...what another method ?? I'm having trouble finding anything that small that is hard enough to drive it out......

Buy a punch set. I bought a set from Midway or Brownells,(can't remember which). They bend sometimes, but I just bend them back. You get what you pay for.

For front sight base pins, I use a starter punch first. For the blade pin, I use the correct size punch, cut down, that way it does not bend. It is "tool specific" for that job.

I have learned, and am still learning, that it pays to be patient, or you will screw something up trying to take a shortcut.

Remember, most jobs only require a little bit of know-how, but you must have the right tools!

Just go to the local tool shop and buy the correct tool. If you don't you could bugger up the pin or damage the sight base.

Is the pin .060" or .0625" ..

Best to make a punch for removing the pin. The punch only needs to be long enough to get the pin out far enough to remove the sight blade. The shorter the punch, the less flex it will have, and more force put on the pin. Just get a 1/16 inch. ( 0.0625 ) punch, cut it off and work it down with emery cloth to where it will pass through the pin hole. The sight pins typically measure 0.063, and your punch should be around 0.060 so as to not enlarge the hole any.
