Angry WW 2 fought - without firearms????

I realize this will get moved to the watering hole or some such place, but since I hang out here, I hope to share it with you. I have been a History teacher for over 6 years, beginning it as a second career after retiring from 20 years law enforcement (and 5 years military). I have noticed a disturbing trend in History text books. Liberal political correctness and absolute visceral hatred of military and firearms that forged this world to the point of outright misrepresentation.

Today I was substituting and browsing a current edition US History in over 70 pages of text on World War 2, there were few pictures of soldiers, and exactly three photographs of the war that any firearms in them: One was two Navajo code talkers one with a Reising, one was a grainy Omaha Beach picture with several firearms in the distance, and one was the raising of the flag (#2) on Mt. Suribachi! The Suribachi picture had photoshopped out the Marines' firearms from the picture, but one could faintly be seen in shadow. They were several other photos where the firearms were photoshopped out entirely. If you were to believe the book, the 101st Airborne that Eisenhower inspected as they loaded the planes jumped into Franceicon unarmed! It was appalling in its level of deceit.

The Vietnam war (3 pages only) showed no soldiers or weapons, except National Guardsmen pointing M14s at hippies. Korea had 2 pages, and one photo of Black GIs with a 30 cal 1919. The book spent more time on hippies, social upheaval and Elvis than Korea and Vietnam put together. The first and second Gulf Wars had ZERO pictures of the military at all. The history of WWI had few military pictures and only used one sentence to mention machine guns, though it changed warfare forever.

We are breeding educated, politically correct eunuchs! It reminds me of Jack Nicholson's tirade in "A Few Good Men."

Similar crap up here in Canadaicon in the school systems; very little mention of WW1, WW2, Korea; mainly the fact that Canada has a strong record of peace keeping. Even on the peace keeping vein they do not mention events like the Medec (SP?) Pocket. The sad part is that very few Canadians realize the contributions this nation has made; in WW2 I believe we had more soldiers per capita than any other allied nation. In the early days of Afghanistan the Americans wanted to present a few Canadians soldiers with commendations while they were in joint actions with US forces; our then Liberal Prime minister Jean Cretien would not allow this to happen. Most canadian are unaware of this as well. This is why we who are parents must be involved in our childrens educational experience and involve them in discussions, help them access sources of information outside of the school and encourage critical thinking and a bit of skepticism. "Those who fail to learn from history will be doomed to repeat it "..... anon.

"Those who beat their swords into ploughshares , will plough for those who don't "..... anon.

Don't know who coined those phrases but it was the same between the two world wars . Someone out there wants us to do a lot of ploughing on the cheap . They have western governments in their pockets , but I don't know how to continue without getting all political !

I talked to a teacher from UKicon. He said they are trying to remove the Holocaust from the curriculum to foster closer ties within the EU! In our district in St. Louis area, they did not teach about the genocide in Rwanda that killed a million people in 1991.

I don't think Rwandans have invested much money in the West , nor do I think they have much oil to sell = Rwandan what ? Did you hear that Britainicon has just put up a memorial to RAF Bomber Command crews . Some noisy "Europeans" are telling us to pull it down . I think our closer ties just got loosened a bit !

Just heard that Germanicon PM Merkel has condemned "multi-culturalism" as a failure !!! This is not politics , she's just stating the bl**din' obvious .

It has been going on longer than we think in Englandicon. Went I went through school in the early 80's, there was not one single mention of any war in the history classes - I learned a lot about Turnip Townsend, though.....

Now I can't get enough of military history, and it irks some of my more liberal acquaintances that I poke holes in their versions of history without them being able to fight back

As for memorials to our fallen in battle, Europe can shove their opinions where the sun shineth not.

18 years ago when I looked at my step daughters history book I was appalled. I didn't even recognized the little it had on Viet Nam and I was there.
There is hope though. I met a young man at the range one day that is a history teacher in a Cleveland suburb. He says it's an uphill struggle but he tries to do his job properly.
Texas is ripping into the next history text that touts the Musleum religion.

    Guys

I was born in 1945. All my uncles and my father were vets. We in were rAIsed partly in housing built for the Ford bomber plant at Willow Run. We played "allies" against "germannotsees" like other kids played cowboys and indians. Drop a shooter marble on an anthill and yell "bombs over tokyo"

When I got into junior high I started getting male teachers. All of them were veterans. They would tell us war stories as much as they taught the class material. The war was in th history books, so we knew the stuff they told us mst be true. Our health teacher was a Navy medic on one of the ships that picked the shark-bitten corpses out of the Coral Sea.. he taught us how to get away from a sinking ship if there was oil burning on the surface.

Those were the days, when the teachers ran the schools and administration was just a couple people keeping records and filing reports. We learned like mad>

The ignorance has spread out of the school system and now is pervasive throughout the society.

As of last month, the Winnipeg (Manitoba, straight north of North Dakota/Minnesota state line, guys) school system is teaching the kids all about the newly-discovered "ancient Maya tradition" that the world will end in 2012 when the Long Count returns to 0.0.0.0. This is, of course, a Native American belief and so must not be questioned. BULL! The Maya had no tales about the end of the world as shown by their date-keeping; when the Long Count returns to zero, it starts all over again. The 'tradition' was started a few years ago by some New Age yuppie zero, likely to sell books. But the kids are being "prepared" for this at a time when gang violence in the same city is rising rapidly and there is no money for anti-gang programs.

It is just as bad in our billion-dollar-a-year-plus national news network, the Canadianicon Broadcasting Corp, a Government-owned "company" which employs half the flakes in the country. I was watching the news one night and there was a story about some group of "Freedom Fighters" in Central America who were struggling against Fascism with a motley collection of old, cast-off American weapons. They were Communists, fighting against a lawfully-elected government. And I never did find out just when the US Military adopted the (on-screen prominently) Stankovy Pulyemet Goryunova as standard equipment.

Maybe one of our American friends can enlighten me.....

The level of sheer ignorance is appalling... and anybody who is qualified to offer criticism is tarred as a "crank", a "right-winger" or an incipiently-violent nut-case. At the same time, Our Good Pal Fraudulent Immigrant Wei-guang Li is going for walks in his unfenced mental-health "facility". We are not to be alarmed. All Wei-guang did was saw off a man's head on a Greyhound bus, then eat the poor guy's eyes and part of his liver. The police stood around outside the bus for almost 3 hours while this went on. Obviously, poor Wei-guang needed help.

This is the lunacy which infects our countries today. It's just as silly as the US sealng the Canadian border because they have a problem with illegal Mexican immigration.

But for the life of me, I can't see a quick solution except for the few remaining sane ones (us) to get involved and start demandng TRUTH and OBJECTIVITY.... for a change. We have had the politically-correct version of the world for the last 40 years and it isn't working.
