    New Guy to Milsurps

    Hi Everyone,

Coming over here from the CMPicon boards. I am getting to my limit for the attitudes of some there and the buggy working forum.

Hope to see others I recognize, and still new people who enjoy Garands, 1903, Mausers and the like.

Looking for common interests, knowledge and fun conversations. (Sounds like a singles ad)

    Trax~

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Welcome, I migrated this way awhile back. I completely understand what you mean. A few dominating, troll personalities seem to dominate that forum. The part I don't like is that if you don't agree with the CMP Elites, they attack you. Therefore, honest discussion and debate is stifled.

But to get back on topic, I like the broad spectrum of knowledge on this forum, I'm primarily a Garandicon and carbine fan, I have been interested in Carcano's and hope to one day get a 1903A3.. Again, welcome.

I enjoy the CMPicon forum, primarily because there are a lot of posts and a lot of interesting information being discussed, but I have to agree about the CMP elites. I don't know that calling them elites is really the right term though. CMP enthusiasts seems to me to be a better description. Most are good guys but they don't like to see any criticism of the CMP. There are a few who are obnoxious, but you will find that on any forum. The thing I don't like about the CMP forum is it's lack of dependability. I see it is down again tonight. This has been going on for a couple of years now and there does not seem to be any attempt to fix it. Obviously the forum is not high on the list of CMP priorities, and I can understand that since thier main interest is selling products and the forum is kind of an afterthought. I wish more of the people who are genuinely interested in the history, functioning, and accurizing of these WWII weapons would find this forum. It has been around a long time and is well run. I just wish it was a little busier with more active members. I am a little surprised that more people have not gravitated to this, and some of the other forums.
