Got there in the end. Just after getting hold of a very nice M`71. But the Werder carbine was just too good to miss. It´s in pristine condition. The mechanism comes out no bother at it all works perfectly. AND it was well below what I was prepared to pay.

No ... the cav. carbines were not re-chambered as they use the short Werder cartridges for the Werder pistol. So think I´ll have to make my own cases out of 11mm Mauser.

The Lee die set for the 11,15x60R (which they call .43 Mauser, I think) is cheap enough. Get a set and shorten the dies in a lathe - that is what I did for the Grenzaufsehergewehr (11,2x37,5R). Then use them to reform shortened 11,15x60R cases.

Have found the short Werder dies in the good old U.S. of A. So have improved the balance of payment deficit to the detriment of Deutschland immensely. And Triebel can do a neck size die with bushings for the M`71 and the Werder. But will still have to find short Werder cases somewhere ... or make my own. Frankonia has got me on their black powder list for October but there seems to be a legal discrepancy between being allowed to charge muzzle loaders and load metal cases (but am not all that worried).
