    auction sites

I am seeing a lot of nice collectable stuff at reasonable prices on the auction sites but no one bids on them. Is it just me or is the collectable firearms market drying up

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Great question ....

Law of supply and demand usually dictates rising prices, but that can be affected by the state of the economy and sometimes the time of the year.

When you combine all of that with a declining number of collectors, again for a whole bunch of reasons, it's possible we're seeing a fundamental shift in both values and available buyers.

    Just my two cents ..

    Regards,
    Doug

I think right now it's the time of the season. Everyone's broke buying gifts for everyone else. December and January seem to always be bad for everyone. And it doesn't pick up in my area till tax refunds come back, and then it's game on.

I've bought a few of Auction Arms when I could get them reasonable enough, but the last few weeks I'm just trying to survive economically and buy gifts for my family for Christmas and be sure they have a place to live next month...

Just looked at the prices of a auction held a month or so ago in Ontario, a Envoy went for $1,500.00 but a LEC carbine dated 1902 for $675.00. I agree money is tight and some prices seem high and others a very good deal. There are guns forsale on CGN that are just sitting there, no takers as I can't think of a worse time to try sell your gun unless the price is very good or the gun is very desireable.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
