The best ammo to shoot is the ammo designed for it, that is M-2 ball. CMPicon has it now, and is good stuff. Beware Korean KA 30-06 M2 ball is corrosive, but still is good shooting stuff.

    Hi Gibson,

I advise: Get one now before they're gone!

Just received one from the CMPicon, and she is beautiful.
You will get a better price than at a gun shop too.

It also helps the CMP with training and marksmanship for the young and old alike.

Hornady makes ammo designed for the Garandicon and you can by it locally.
The surplus ammo is great for shooting too.

I liked my SA service grade so much I ordered a secound before I even removed the 1st from the box
    I have a SA 1942
SA 1952 both have great barrels.
I ordered my 10 case limit when it was in effect.
In my area SE Massachusetts you lucky to find a M1icon Garand in a gun shop for less than 1000.00 that isnt a sewerpipe and a 2x4 REALLY.
Dont think about it do it.
When I first thought about they sold out and was not able to order one until they restocked and they went up a a good amount.
SA service grade 619 delicered to your door-----how can you beat it. Both mine function and shoot better than I ever will.
CMPicon HXP ammo runs about 50ish cents per round delivered,,,,,you can not buy 30-06 in any configuration for that amount.
I radomly order a case of ammo through out the year.
I also began to reload for my M1 even with the current prices of bullets powder and primers still cost me .50 per round. Although my accuracy has gone up......I have yet to have a flyer with my relaods.

You just ca not beat the cmp guns and ammo for big caliper shooting fun.

My first and only Garandicon purchase was a few months ago. I don't regret it for a second. Go for it if you can. I wish I would have bought ammo at the same time, but it isn't difficult to reload for. Current factory stuff is $$

I received a CMPicon service grade SA rifle in mid-August. This was my first foray into the Garandicon world. I was very impressed with the overall quality of all the components. The furniture was a little dinged up, but I expected that for a rifle that is 55 years old. It was a treat to take to the rifle range. I think you would be happy with a CMP purchase. Be sure to follow all of their instructions so as not to delay the arrival of your rifle.

For ammo:Order the Greek HXP from the CMPicon a 192 round can with Bandoleers & Ammo on enbloc clips is like $96,You won't find 30/06 ammo for less & from all the reports I have seen it's good ammo too.
