Shipments from England to the US

I was wondering if anyone in the US is seeing an unusual delay in packages coming in from Englandicon. Prior to November, I was receiving packages from England in approx. 14 days from time of shipment. In November, I ordered a set of 3BA screws on Nov. 03 and two sets of mounting screws on Nov. 09 from two different companies and have not rec'd either of them. Both companies stated that they shipped them and one stated he has confirmation that the package was delivered to the US.

The screws are not high dollar ticket items, but it has kept me from bidding on a couple of Parker Hale sights. I spoke to an employee at the USPS and she told me that her only assumption is that the packages are still in customs.

Is it just my luck or are others seeing the same problem?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. The UKicon post system is in melt down, and its exacerbated by the Xmas season. I'm in UK and have just had a parcel arrive that was posted "First Class" nine days ago in a town thats less than 100 miles away, also in UK. That delivery time is roughly twice what it used to take when the mail went by horse & carriage...

Yeah I am still waiting down here as well, Australiaicon usually has a 3-7 day delivery from the UKicon. It has been over a month now. I thought the bloke might have done a runner with my money. Just have to wait I suppose.

EBay have been posting the following message to sellers for the last couple of weeks :

Following a recent incident with an improvised explosive device on a US bound aircraft, all packages to the US will be subject to stricter screening by US authorities. This could lead to delays in your items being delivered to customers in the US.

If you sell to the US, you should:

Amend your listing description to point out that delivery may be delayed for the above reason
When a sale is made, manage your customer’s expectations by reminding them about why delivery may be delayed
Contact your delivery company (eg Royal Mail service) to obtain up-to-date information on delivery services to the US
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
