After a favour from someone with a Gun Broker log in (Again)
Theres a nice condition 1940 Inglis DD Mk1 with tripod on gunbroker

Could somebody with a log in do me a favour and ask the seller the gun and tripod serial number. Being a 1940 gun it must be some where before M1600.

I agree, I dont understand why people get cagey over serial numbers, after all, if some wanted to use the number, they are as likely just to make one up and use that one, unless I'm missing somthing. If he did tell the number, it maybe more desirable to a purchaser, who can check/verify it as a genuine example etc. I can tell its a very early Inglis model, very desirable in the UK, I would like to add the number to my list of Inglis surviving DDs but not likely now.

I picked up 8 dewats a month or two back. All were Inglis, and of the 8, 6 were DD. Of those 6, some were DP serials, and some were in the M series. The one I am keeping for myself is M155, which is about as early as I am going to find for now I guess. There were a couple others in the M6XX range as well.
These were very poorly re-done from cut ups, so I have to take the time to mix and match, restore proper lengths and the fine lines in order to make the best ones presentable.

Yes, Peter, all came from Cdn service and were released as scrap metal in the mid 60s after being cut up by the Cdn Military. Most of the ones I have seen have been DP'd early Mk1 or Mk1m model. There were the odd BSA early bipods on some, but the bulk were pure Canadian.

Very Nice, M155 is the older brother to my M177. Can you PM me the serial numbers inc. the DP numbers (If thats ok).
