New project for the New Year
I have a no.4 mk.1 Enfield with a junk barrel that i would like to turn into a hybred L42. The finished rifle would have the looks of the L42 but would be in the original .303 caliber. I believe this would simpilfy the whole process and keep the costs down as well. Is the barreling process with the NO.4 fairly straight forward or are there some quirks i need to know about? Share your thoughts. It will be interesting to see what others think about this project.

To even remotely look like an L42, even in .303", it'll just have to have a heavy barrel. Better source a look-a-like 7.62mm barrel, have it threaded to suit and use that. Under the wood the barrel can be any form but out of the wood, it can be machined parallel quite simply.
Rebarreling has been discussed at some length on the forum
