I love that film! The DP gun is a Double Dovetail with a mk2 butt and bipod. The firers are 2 mk2s and a mk3, the intresting thing is that one of the mk2s has a mk1 adjustable bipod.

That's a good example of how we kept our Brens in service BP. We didn't worry about trivialities suich as Mk1 this with Mk1 that. The parts interchanged, as they should, and that's how we used them. On the DP's anything went. That having been said, I make sure that my 'C' double dovetail Mk1 is 'correct'. But my L54 late 'intermediate' type is a real bitza - but an 'original' bitza!

    Wink

Hay Peter my L54 is a bitsa too, bitsa nothing, wish I could find one, I assume the majority have been chopped at Donni.

That carry on film must have been a training film when you joined up, when did you start your National Service again?

AS a 15 year old apprentice in January 1963 and there were still NS men in the system too! We had whole Battalions of them in Australiaicon though!

That was actually filmed at Guildford as I understand it and the band playing at the end was the old WRAC band

Ah Peter!... Happy memories of Princess Elizabeth Barracks Womes Royal Army Corps there in Guildford. Sadly no loger exists. I used to drive over each evening when I was on attachment with 3 Para shooting team. We were staying at Bruneval Brks in Aldershot for 6 months. (Bliss away from the Regiment & NO duities!) I got to know 'Quite a few' of the Girls there! Blimey, they were worse than Blokes when they were together En Mass! You made sure you attended in 'Sniper pairs', otherwise you could be dragged off into the Qm's Store, never to be seen again. I never heard of anyone dying from pleasure, but there were a few 'Near Misses'! LOL!
