    Question Need help fast!

Fellas, I missed out on a really nice WWII USMC fighting knife and want to buy one for my son Jeff who is graduating from USMC basic the 21st of this month. Can someone tell me if this is a real WWII USMC fighting knife? TIA

I think it's real but I don't think he's correct. The blade looks to have been reblued with cold blue and the edge shows signs of repeated sharpening. The case is so far gone the knife has to have been well used. It look like a much later pattern than he says. The problem is I can't really prove what I'm saying.
    Regards, Jim

Seems the blue looks way too good for the sheath to be in the condition it is. I looked at the ratings for this eBay seller and there are over 2300 of them, most of the ones I looked at were for knives. I'm no expert but could tell many of them did not seem to be what they were portrayed as. Maybe I'm just cynical.

    Bill,

That knife is shown on page 87 of Cole's book III. The ( , ) after Camillus and before N.Y. is what caught my eye.

But is seems to be reworked and in pretty worn shape for the money.
I picked this knife up last year, just like it but in a little better shape. But also was a lot more money, $250.
I personally don't like the repo knives, just my opinion.

Thanks to everyone for all the replies. Jeff has a reproduction K-Bar. Jeff has always had an interest in knives so I thought what a great graduation gift it would to give him a real USMC fighting knife. I know it won't be cheap but hey! I'll keep looking. Thanks again.

They still make these new, not repro's just new manufacture. I got a pile of Camilus blades that were beign offered through USAF stores about 15 years ago you cant put a good knife down. A new one woudl be usable, although I can see why you woudl want an WWII as a grad present.
