Saw this on gunbroker last night if anyone is looking:

New seller so not sure if it is legitimate sniper or a fake, but I thought I would let anyone whois looking know about it.

The 1945 rebarrel is odd. The rifle apparently didn't see service as a No4(T) in WWII, so was it issued as a standard No4 or was the barrel only made in 1945 and fitted at some other point, in some other country than the UK
?

FWIW the receiver looks right enough. I have seen a few like this; both 41/42 Savage's & 41 Maltby's that were original T's & were rebarreled with 45 dated UK mfr barrels. I did wonder if the Savage's might have been 2 groovers from the late conversions set up by H&H at the end of the contract run, although that's only speculation on my part.
If it were located in the UK I'd have a stab at it as a restoration project..........I've got the spares to do it!

6 days left on the auction and no bids. My guess it will change in the next day or so. If the spirit moves me, perhaps I will jump on it. We shall see. Have a few too many projects in various stages, so not sure as of now.

$325 is a pretty good price for what is left of it?? Resale would be a decent markup if it was restored with all correct parts, but it isnt ever going to be the all matching example the guys with the big bucks are scrambling for. Would be a fun project though! Looks like Bubba did a real nasty on the wood, but thankfully kept his pi$$y fingers off the metal.

Looks like the barrel was not shortened. Maybe Bubba had half a brain.

This made me curios I have two scopeless h&h savages both 1942 13cxxxx and 15cxxxx serial numbers one sporteriezed both have 45 dated barrels .maybe not rare at all.

Savage No4Mk1* snipers are very rare. A number of them in the 13Cxxxx-15Cxxxx range
were started as snipers by H&H but never completed. They have the S51 mark of H&H, but
lack other marks such as the T on the left side of the body and TR on the butt socket. Read
